In a Wednesday morning email to University of Nebraska-Omaha faculty and staff, Athletic Director Trev Alberts announced that he would not be pursuing the UNL Athletic director position. Alberts says he was asked to interview for the position, but feels there is unfinished business at UNO. You can read Alberts' full statement below.
Good morning!
As most of you are likely aware, the University of Nebraska is currently engaged in a search to place an athletic director at UNL. There has been much speculation and conjecture about my interest and candidacy from local media and others. I owe you an update- I was contacted by the search firm to interview as part of their process, and I appreciate the opportunity. I want you to know that I have not pursued or interviewed for any job in my 8 years at UNO and I don’t intend to alter that thinking now. After some prayerful consideration, I have communicated with the search firm that I will not be a candidate for athletic director at UNL.
We have unfinished business at UNO, and I remain committed to working as hard as possible to realizing those goals. I can’t begin to thank you enough for your commitment and passion for Maverick Athletics. I continue to be honored to serve alongside our amazing team.
Go Mavs!
Trev
