Beginning Monday, October 2, the Madison Avenue on-ramp to westbound I-80 will be shut down for 30 days.
The Iowa Department of Transportation is urging drivers to take the detour, which would bring them south to Highway 92, over the South Expressway and back onto I-80. Iowa DOT officials say contractors are working hard to finish projects before the winter snow starts to fly.
It's the latest step in a years-long overhaul of the Council Bluffs freeway system, adding more lanes, new ramps, and new bridges to both I-80 and I-29. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
