15 Inmates Suspected Of Drug Use At State Penitentiary

The Nebraska State Penitentiary is in modified operations with all visits cancelled for Sunday due to suspected drug use by inmates.

Corrections officials say that over the past 24 hours there have been at least 15 inmates suspected of using K2 (synthetic cannabinoid).

Investigators will be brought in to determine sources and other relevant information. Modified operations constitute actions taken to more closely control movement of inmates within a facility due to safety and security needs.

This may include confinement in cells of a portion of the inmate population, cancellation of program/work activities, and direct escort of certain inmates as necessary.
