Husker Offense Efficient In Win Over Illinois

In a rare Friday night game Mike Riley and the Nebraska football team improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten with a 28-6 road win at Illinois.

Tanner Lee went 17-for-24 through the air for three scores as the NU junior quarterback found De'Mornay Pierson-El, Stanley Morgan Jr., and Tyler Hoppes for touchdowns. Devine Ozigbo added another scoring run to help the Big Red put four touchdowns on the board .

Lee also avoided throwing an interception after being picked off nine times in the four previous games. The Nebraska defense held Illinois to 199 total yards and two field goals.

“Win on the road. I’m proud of our kids,"  head coach Mike Riley says.  "We didn’t make much of it a big deal being a short week but it was good.  Whatever the special teams roll was it was probably the most overall balanced and if you could put it together where you talk about rushing production and passing efficiency we pretty sure like to say is us.”

The road for Nebraska will get much tougher in the coming weeks.  The Huskers will host Wisconsin and Ohio State the next two Saturday's.
