Semi Driver Arrested After Hit And Run

A semi driver has been booked on a number of charges after he tore through a metro apartment complex early Friday morning.

Omaha Police say 40 year old Cortney Williams allegedly hit a garage and building at the Regency Lakeside Apartments near 103rd and Fieldcrest Court around 4:30. Williams then reportedly kept going, even after having significant damage to his trailer.

Witnesses called police shortly before 5:00 to report the incident, and an officer spotted the rig near 105th and West Center shortly after. The officer tried to pull the truck over, but Williams kept driving on westbound Center, where a formal pursuit began.

The pursuit continued onto southbound 108th, then onto westbound Grover before Williams entered the Westside Community School parking lot and stopped.

Williams was immediately arrested and booked on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Flight to Avoid Arrest and a Fixed Object Collision.
