Men Looking For Love Get Unexpected Surprise

Omaha Police are looking into six robberies and one attempted robbery involving social media sites. 

Authorities say all seven incidents occurred over the last week and appear to be related. The seven victims are men and each set up dates with people who present themselves as females on the dating dating apps Tinder and Plenty of Fish.  

Victims stated that when they arrive at the arranged meeting location they are met by two or three armed black males and are robbed upon arrival.  All the robberies have occurred in the Miller Park/Florence area late at night or early in the morning. 

OPD is encouraging the public to use personal safety practices when meeting with unknown parties on social media websites for dating purposes or to buy, sell or trade items. Authorities recommend people meet at a public location and to report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about these robberies is requested to call the Omaha Police Department Robbery Unit at 402-444-4619 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP.  A tip for a person robbery is eligible for up to $1,000.00
