Teen On Life Support, Family Seeking Justice

An Omaha mom wants justice after her daughter was shot during over the weekend. Porcha Hill tells WOWT 6 News her daughter, 15-year-old Shadaisja Hill, is on life support.

Omaha Police said the North High School sophomore died and are investigating the case as a homicide. Porcha Hill says she is desperate for police to find the suspect – a 25 year old woman known to the family.

Porcha Hill says she was dropping her sister off at her car at 36th and Lake while her kids waited inside their truck.  A short time later, they heard gunshots. "When I realized that my baby was shot, I hit 100 to the hospital. I didn't wait. I didn't call no police," Porcha told WOWT 6 News.

Police say they are looking for 25-year-old Catessa Barnum in connection to the case. Hill says she had issues with Barnum in the past but she thought they'd put it behind them.

Hill's family says Family says she's someone who has always loved life and someone whose positive nature shines. "Her smile, her face, here around the house. No matter where she's at, she's going to talk to everybody, show everybody love,” said cousin Sierra Hill.

As Porcha takes things day-by-day she can't help but watch her daughter knowing what she has been through.  "I just miss my baby. This wasn't supposed to happen. This situation is all messed up,” she said.

While police continue looking for the suspect, Shadaisja's family makes their feelings clear.“My conscience would have told me to turn myself in, period. Especially watching this little girl up there,” says Porcha.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at 444-5656 or Crime Stoppers at 402 444-STOP. Anyone providing a tip leading to the arrest of the suspect in this case is eligible for a $5,000 reward.
