Sunday is going to the dogs at the Nebraska Humane Society as they hold their annual "Walk for the Animals". This festival of pets is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Events start with a 5K run at 10:30 a.m. at Democracy Park just east of the shelter near 90th and Fort Street. For those who would rather walk there is a one mile hike along the Keystone Trail.
Spokesperson Pam Wiese says if you don't have a dog this is the perfect opportunity to pick a perfect pet. She says, "We will have an adoption dog parade. We will be showcasing our adoptable dogs and allowing people to adopt that day and people can come in and check out the kitties and the other critters too."
There will be a number of dog friendly activities, an agility dog demonstration, a photo booth, a kids zone, silent auction, BBQ and more.
Activities on the meadow start at 11 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. There is a $10 fee at the door.
