A day after he overpowered a sheriff's deputy and stole his vehicle, a massive search continues for Eric G Scott.
The 37 year old Scott is a convicted sex offender and is considered armed and dangerous. Wednesday afternoon Scott was being transported from Lincoln to Dodge County for a Thursday court appearance.
While driving near Ithaca in Saunders County, authorities say Scott was able to slip out of his handcuffs, choke the deputy and get away in the transport car. The deputy is recovering but Scott remains on the run.
Scott ditched the deputy's transport car outside the Nebraska Furniture Mart Wednesday afternoon and was last seen getting into what is described as a vibrant blue newer Chevrolet Camaro.
WOWT 6 News spoke with a man who says he crossed paths with the deputy moments after the encounter. Jason Swanson said the deputy was handcuffed and injured. “It hurt when he moved his arms trying to talk to 911," Swanson said. “He said the inmate choked him out. Lucky to be alive, I would say. Things could have gone really in a bad way."
Swanson and deputy then circled back to try to find the guns the deputy tossed from the car but Scott apparently got there first. That's why authorities say he is now considered armed and dangerous.
