Escaped Inmate Captured In Iowa

An inmate who escaped Wednesday afternoon while being transferred from Lincoln to Fremont has been apprehended in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says Eric Scott was found walking near the Pottawattamie County Jail Thursday afternoon. "Deputies received a call, just shortly before noon, that there was an individual walking on Joslin Avenue, which is just north of the office here. They thought it could be the individual that had escaped from the deputy in Nebraska."

Danker says Scott offered no resistance once deputies spotted him."Two deputies, I believe, come from the south, another one from the north and kinda got on both sides of him there. As they rolled up on him, he didn't try to run."

On Wednesday afternoon, Scott choked the deputy that was transporting him, took his gun and transport vehicle and took off on Highway 77. Scott then made his way into Omaha and ditched the transport vehicle in the parking lot of Nebraska Furniture Mart. Danker says when Scott was apprehended, he was in possession of the deputy's gun. "They told him to drop his bag, he dropped it, didn't offer any resistance. Basically said 'Well, you got me,' and they found the deputy's weapon in the bag he was in possession of."

Scott is facing charges in Iowa, as well as charges in Nebraska. Danker says he will be processed in and housed at Pottawattamie County jail until he can be extradited back to Nebraska to face a slew of charges there.
