Man Rushed To Hospital After Being Shot Near 60th & L

Traffic was shut down in all directions at 60th and L after a man was shot near the intersection on Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area around 4:30 after witnesses said a man in a semi-truck was shot by a suspect in another vehicle. Omaha Police Lt. Kyle Steffen says the victim, a man in his 30's, was taken to Bergen Mercy Hospital in extremely critical condition with CPR in progress.

Steffen says the victim's injuries are life-threatening and that the Omaha Police Department's Homicide Unit has been called in to help with the investigation.

Witnesses say there may be dash camera footage from a car that was in the area at the time of the incident, and a Metro bus may also have video from the scene. Initial reports say the suspect may have been in a Chevy Silverado. It is not know at this time if there is more than one suspect in the shooting.

Police say anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP.
