Secretary of Defense James Mattis will make a stop in the metro on Thursday to meet with top brass at the U.S. Strategic Command Headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base.
While at Offutt Mattis will discuss the nuclear command and control system, how the command provides combat-ready forces that enable strategic deterrence, or how to respond if deterrence fails.
USSTRATCOM employs tailored nuclear, space, cyberspace, global strike, missile defense and other capabilities for deterrence and assurance.
Thursday's visit will be Mattis' first trip to the USSTRATCOM Headquarters since being appointed as Secretary of Defense.
