Nebraska Soldiers Deploy To Florida

The Nebraska National Guard is sending help to Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Four Nebraska Army National Guard helicopters and about 100 soldiers will support relief operations after Florida requested emergency management assistance.

The Lincoln and Grand Island crews are prepared to conduct search and rescue operations, air missions and aerial damage assessments. The four helicopters will set off on Monday with twelve crew members and will eventually be joined by the remaining crew members to help in central and northern Florida.

Nebraska adjutant general, Major General Daryl Bohac says Nebraska soldiers are proud to support rescue efforts in Florida. “Just as we did in Texas, members of the Nebraska National Guard stand ready and able to do what we have always done, support our fellow Americans during times of natural disaster. We also thank the families and civilian employers of our deploying National Guardsmen as they deploy in response to this natural disaster.”
