A suspected drunk driver is accused of causing a crash in north Omaha Wednesday afternoon that left a 30 year old woman in extremely critical condition.
Omaha Police say a GMC Acadia was seen driving recklessly near 30th and Burdette around 2:15. The vehicle struck a large forklift that was turning into a construction zone.
A passenger in the SUV, 30 year old Chestrina Wilson-Gibbs, is being treated for massive internal injuries that police say are believed to be life-threatening.
Police say Randy Davis was behind the wheel. Witnesses say Davis tried to run from the scene, but he was taken into custody a short distance away by an Omaha Police Sergeant who happened to be in the area.
Police said alcohol is being investigated as a major contributing factor in the crash. After being checked out at the hospital, Davis was booked for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and DUI-serious bodily injury.
