An eighteen year old man is behind bars after the death of an infant.
Omaha Police say officers and emergency crews were called to a home near 18th and K Street just after 3:00 Friday afternoon for a child down. They say the infant was unresponsive and was transported to Nebraska Medicine with CPR in progress.
While at the hospital the child was stabilized and admitted to the Pediatric ICU, but would died Sunday night.
The child's father, Missael Valadez, was caring for the baby at the time of the incident and originally booked for Child Abuse resulting in Serious Injury. After the child's death, the Douglas County Attorney's Office enhanced the charge to Homicide Child Abuse.
