Water Safe To Drink In Seward

Officials in Seward, Nebraska say the city water is safe to drink again. The State of Nebraska has approved all water samples and tests.

City Administrator Greg Butcher says the city's two water tower systems ran dry on Sunday following a water main broke under the flood waters of the flooded Big Blue River.

Crews had been working day and night since Sunday afternoon to make repairs and get water service restored.  Residents could not drink water until this afternoon when the all clear was given.

Butcher says they recommend residents open each tap in their home and run cold water to force out air in the lines.

"Run your tap until you have a cool consistent temperature," Butcher says.
