Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers Limited Edition Heisman Trophy 45th Anniversary Football - $295
This is a one-time-only amazing deal, especially considering that balls similar to this one are often priced as much as $2,500 at charity auctions. This custom-designed ball marks the first time the Heisman name and The Salvation Army logo are co-branded, thus making the ball an instant collector’s item that will increase in value over the years.
Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers is a legend among legends in Nebraska sports history and in the annals of college football. He was voted to the All-Century NCAA Football Team and named the greatest football player of the 20th Century at Nebraska. Johnny was also the first of three Heisman Trophy winners from the University of Nebraska, and he made one of the most memorable punt returns in the history of college football during the 1971 “Game of the Century,” in which Nebraska defeated Oklahoma 35-31 in Norman. The image on the ball replicates the original photograph capturing that famous return.
Johnny was raised in the neighborhood of The Salvation Army’s North Corps in Omaha. Having lived in poverty throughout his childhood, he knows all about the critical importance of the Army’s mission. As the first member of his family to earn a high school diploma (he graduated from Omaha Tech High School) and later a college degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Johnny deeply appreciates that proceeds from this item will help struggling children and families overcome the same kinds of obstacles he faced growing up in Omaha. The net proceeds from the auction of this ball will support The Salvation Army’s mission to help the most vulnerable people in our community.

Greg and Doug McDermott Father-Son Limited Edition Basketball - $295
This basketball, which routinely raises more than $1,000 at charity auctions, will continue to grow in value, thanks to the fact that it commemorates one of the most special father-son duos in college basketball history. In 2014, while playing for his father, Greg McDermott, Doug McDermott was named Naismith Player of the Year, which recognizes the top college player in the country. This marked the first time a coach’s son won the Naismith Award while playing for his father since the legendary Pistol Pete Maravich won national player of the year honors while playing for his father, Press, in 1970.
Doug set numerous scoring records and will be remembered as one of the greatest scorers and overachievers in the history of the NCAA. He is now playing for the Oklahoma Thunder in the NBA. Greg is arguably one of the most highly respected coaches in the NCAA. Together, this dynamic father-son duo raised Creighton’s profile in men’s basketball to an all-time high in 2014, the first year of CU’s participation in the Big East Conference.
The net proceeds from the auction of this ball will support The Salvation Army’s mission to help the most vulnerable people in our community.

Tom Osborne Limited Edition Football - $295
Tom Osborne is among the most respected football coaches in the history of the game, having led Nebraska to three national championships in the 1990s. He posted a coaching record of 255-49 and a winning percentage of 83.3, ranking him just behind Knute Rockne (Notre Dame) and Barry Switzer (Oklahoma) on the list of the most-winning major NCAA football universities of all time.
The image on this ball is especially significant because it’s a reproduction of a photograph taken in 1997, at Coach Osborne’s last game in his last season. The fact that Coach Osborne’s name and The Salvation Army logo appear together on this ball also makes it especially unique.
Now 80 years old, Coach Osborne continues to give back to Nebraska through his non-profit organization, TeamMates, and other special causes. He graciously agreed to autograph this unique collector’s item, knowing that all proceeds will support the mission of The Salvation Army.
The charitable tax deduction for this ball is $245.
