Dodge County authorities say a 45 year old Omaha man drowned after falling off a jet ski at Victory Lake in Fremont Sunday evening.
The Sheriff's Office identifies the man as Eugenijus Balsys. Sheriff Steve Hespen says Balsys was driving his jet ski eastbound on the lake near the boat ramp area when he fell off around 8:45 p.m.
Hespen says Balsys, who was not wearing a life jacket, tried to swim to the jet ski, but was unsuccessful. Witnesses jumped into the water to try and help Balsys, but were not able to reach him in time.
Members of the Fremont/Dodge County Dive Team searched the lake and found Balsys around 9:20 p.m. about 50 feet from the south shore.
