Problems keep coming for staff members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
On Monday, a staff member was assaulted by an inmate, which is the third attack in the last two weeks.
Prison officials say an inmate repeatedly punched a staff member in the face while they were in the dining hall. They say the staff member fell to the ground after being punched, and the inmate kicked them in the face.
When other staff members came to help, the inmate ran from the area but was quickly restrained. The staff member is being treated for serious, non life threatening injuries.
The inmate has been removed from general population and has been placed in restrictive housing.
Five staff members have been injured in attacks by inmates in the last few weeks.
