Two staff members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution were assaulted early Sunday morning according to the Nebraska Department of Corrections.
Department officials say one staff member received serious, non-life-threatening injuries and requiring medical treatment.
They say inmates in one housing unit gallery initially refused to return to their cells, but have since done so without the need for force. There is a normal visiting schedule for all housing units, except for 2A.
The department reports the facility is secure and all staff are safe and accounted for and is in modified operations status. "Actions taken to more closely control movement of inmates within a facility due safety and security needs. Actions can include confinement in cells of a portion of the inmate population, cancellation of program/work activities and direct escort."
No weapons were involved and no damage to the facility is reported.
