Outpouring Of Support In Wake Of Sen. McCain's Diagnosis

Since the announcement of Senator John McCain's brain tumor, lawmakers across the country have shown an outpouring of support, including former Nebraska Congressman Brad Ashford.

McCain has served the state of Arizona for 30 years, and Ashford says he is what is positive and good about legislating. "He's a giant of the legislative process. He's a giant of Congress. He's a hero. It was shocking, I mean, he's one of those leaders that you always believe is always going to be there."

Ashford says he knows McCain is tough as nails and will fight with everything he has. "You know, he'll give them hell. I mean, I think President Obama was correct, give it hell is exactly what Senator McCain will do."

Although McCain's exact prognosis is not known at this time, Ashford says he's optimistic. "We're all very hopeful, and I'm very hopeful, that he'll make a comeback. Get back to congress and try to whip those people into shape a little bit."
