The famed film making duo of Joel and Ethan Coen are bringing their cameras to Nebraska, and they're in search of ordinary Nebraskans to fill some roles.
The Coen Brothers are the minds behind a number of blockbuster films such as Fargo and No Country For Old Men. The brothers will shoot part of their latest project in the Nebraska panhandle this Fall.
Six episodes of the miniseries The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the Coen Brothers' first venture into television, will be shot on private land just north of Mitchell, Nebraska. The project is a western anthology, covering a number of different story lines.
Auditions will be held at the historic Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff and Executive Director Billy Estes says it is an honor to have the casting call at the theater. "We're excited to be hosting the auditions for the Coen Brothers' latest project that'll be filmed out here in western Nebraska this September."
Estes says the theater is all about community, so this is a great way for them to show their support. "What better way for us to support independent film that is being shot in Nebraska, then to be involved in the casting process."
All you need to do to audition, Estes says, is show up to the theater on August 1st. "It's an open casting call, so you can just show up. Doors open at 5:00 PM. It'll be a three to five minute process with the casting director and assistant director."
The casting team is looking for 50 men and women for non-speaking, extra roles as settlers on a wagon train.
Men are asked to have a beard or mustache and women should have long hair that is not obviously dyed or highlighted. They're also looking for families with children old then ten. The roles are paid and all costumes will be provided.
If you can not make it to Scottsbluff on August 1st, you can register on the casting company's website here or submit a recent photo with height, weight and phone number to castingabq@gmail.com.
