Nebraska's gift to the nation is about to be unveiled in Lincoln. Patriotic Productions "Remembering Our Fallen" National Memorial will be celebrated during a ceremony on Saturday, July 22nd at 10 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
Co-Creator Bill Williams says, "These are free-standing tribute towers, each 10 feet tall, six feet in circumference and we have 25 towers to begin with that will include the fallen from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is the only thing like it in the country and it is pictures that make it so powerful. We have their military picture but we also asked their families for their favorite personal pictures that brings the emotion. That is what we want to do for the families so they are not forgotten."
The towers will be on display in Lincoln for two days before it is packed up and will head to Washington D.C. for the national unveiling on Thursday, September 7th at the Lincoln Memorial. It will remain on display for two days before it will be placed at the inner Courtyard of the Pentagon for 9/11. The national tour already includes coast-to-coast stops including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California.
Your help is needed to make this gift for the nation a success. A Bucks for a Truck fundraiser is set for Sunday, July 16th at the Starlight Ballroom in Wahoo. Williams says, "We have a 32 foot trailer that the towers will travel in but we don't have the money for a truck that will pull it." The fundraiser starts at 5 p.m. with a dinner at 6 p.m. Those wanting to donate can click here for more information.
