Dozens Shave Their Heads For A Good Cause

A special head shaving event at Nebraska Medicine on Friday was a huge success.

Nebraska Medicine officials say 24 people raised money and had their heads shaved all in the name of pediatric cancer research.

In all $16,000 was raised during the event, with funds going to the St. Baldrick's Foundation, the country’s largest volunteer-supported fundraiser for pediatric cancer research.

The event was kicked off by a current pediatric patient getting her head shaved by Nebraska Medicine pediatric oncologists, Drs. Don Coulter and Bruce Gordon.

Drs. Gordon and Coulter were next up to the shaving chair, with patients getting to turn the clippers on the doctors.

This was the tenth year Nebraska Medicine has hosted a St. Baldrick's event and to date, have been able to raise $94,000 for the foundation.
