Families looking for a way to keep cool this summer are finding relief at the city of Omaha's hydrant parties.
Omaha dad Michael Morris tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that it's a great way to entertain his daughters and get to know his neighbors. "It's good for community building. Nice to see the kids and the fire fighters hanging out and get some of the neighbor kids out that you don't see on a day to day basis."
For decades the city's hydrant parties have brought little water parks right to people's front doors, and Morris says his daughters couldn't contain their excitement when he old them they'd get to play in the hydrant on Monday. "Squeals and laughter, they were excited to run through the sprinkler. They love it, it's nice to get outside and run around."
Hydrant parties are hosted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in various locations throughout the metro until August 4th.
