In an effort to help people deal with the extreme heat, the Salvation Army will be operating four cooling stations through Friday in Omaha and Council Bluffs.
Leno Vigil helps run the cooling station inside the Burrows Center near 61st and Northwest Radial Highway. He says they see about 20-30 people each day. Many will come in, grab a cold bottle of water and leave. Others will take a brief rest before going on their way.
The centers will be open through Friday or as long as extreme heat persists.
