Omaha Man Arrested For Making Threats Against Senator

An Omaha man has been arrested by the FBI after allegedly making threats against Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.

The Omaha Field Office of the FBI arrested 64 year old Robert Simet Friday morning.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Randall Thysse says the safety of elected officials can't be taken lightly. “We appreciate those people who reported this to the proper authorities and for the response from our partners at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa for their and swift action on this matter.”

Simet is in custody and will be taken to Council Bluffs for an appearance in the Southern District of Iowa.
