A man was critically injured after his van was clipped by a semi on Abbott Drive near Eppley Airfield late Friday morning.
Sergeant Doug Klein tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB witnesses reported the van was being driven erratically westbound on Abbott Drive around 11:00. Klein says at one point the van ran a red light and crossed lanes in front of a semi and was clipped by the truck.
The impact forced the van over the raised median where it took out some trees and rolled. The driver, 63 year old David Petersen of Omaha was thrown from the truck and taken to UNMC in critical condition with head and leg injuries.
The semi driver was not injured. The crash shut down both lanes of Abbott Drive near Gallup Drive for about three hours.
