Fireworks Amnesty Set For Saturday

Now that the Independence Day celebrations have ended, Omaha Police are gearing up for Fireworks Amnesty Day on Saturday.

Sergeant Matt Manhart says if you have leftover fireworks, ammunition and guns in your homes you can get rid of them between 9:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M.  Manhart says it's an opportunity for you to properly dispose of them safely and with no questions asked.

Just drive up, drop off the items and drive away.  Manhart says each year they receive hundreds of pounds of fireworks and ammunition.  Here is the list of locations where you can drop them off:

Omaha Fire Station #43, 5505 N. 103rd St. (near 103rd and Fort)

Seymour Smith Park at 72nd and Harrison St.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office, 1400 Big Lake Rd,in Council Bluffs ( west parking lot)
