Nebraska State Patrol Steps Up Presence For Holiday

The Nebraska State Patrol is stepping up their enforcement during the Fourth of July holiday.

Extra troopers will be on the roads Monday, July 3rd through Wednesday, July 5th in an effort to keep Nebraska roads safe.

Spokesman Cody Thomas says the more troopers out there, the more likely people will obey the rules of the road. "Maybe slow down a little bit, maybe pay a little extra attention. So that high visibility, that's a big part of this. We just wanna be out there and want to make sure people to see us."

Thomas hopes that drivers will do their part to keep everyone safe. "Voluntarily comply with those posted speed limits. Pay extra attention in work zones. Please never drive impaired or don't drink and drive. Don't drive distracted in any way."

A $15,960 grant was given to the State Patrol by the Nebraska Department of Roads to pay for the extra troopers on the roads.
