The Omaha Police Department would like to remind citizens of the city's fireworks ordinance. Consumer fireworks may be discharged in Omaha from June 25th through July 4th between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.
You must be 16 years or older to possess, use or discharge consumer fireworks. Minor’s ages 12 to 15 years old may discharge consumer fireworks if under the direct supervision of an adult who is at least 19 years old.
Those found in violation risk being cited for criminal mischief.
Police also remind citizens that celebratory gunfire is prohibited. Discharge of a firearm within the city limits is illegal and any bullet discharged into the sky must land somewhere. That poses a risk of injury or death to others.
Fireworks are also allowed December 28th to December 30th between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. They are allowed December 31st from 8 a.m. through 1 a.m. on January 1st.
