Bellevue City officials say there has been no shortage of volunteers pitching in to help cleanup after two tornadoes hit the community Friday night.
Spokesman Phil Davidson says there have been many helpers, but they could always use more. "The Bellevue East football and softball teams brought forty or fifty kids into some neighborhoods today, but I think if church groups or anybody wants to help out, we just encourage them to go to some of the harder hit areas."
Several homes were damaged or destroyed in the violent storms and the sound of heavy machinery removing debris echoed in neighborhoods like Hyda Hills in southern Bellevue.
The streets in the usually quiet neighborhood were covered in piles of person belongings, shingles and siding.
The damaged parts of Bellevue won't be fixed over night, but the community has come together to heal and help.
