Items From Former Hospital Up For Bid

Now that the doors have closed for good at the Creighton University Medical Center on 30th and Webster, the next steps to renovating the building are underway.

Before the walls can be knocked down and new apartments can go in the old hospital though, items that CHI didn't take with them to the new trauma center at Bergan Mercy must go.

The auction is being held online only by Auction Solutions Inc. President Shayne Fili says there is everything from kitchen, laboratory and medical equipment, to furniture and plumbing fixtures. "We have 300 refrigerators, 900 chairs, we have gym equipment. We have large generators that could power a small city. Just a lot of different things that you'd find in a hospital."

Some items were saved for other hospitals and charities, such as Mission Experience, a group that builds orphanages and other facilities in Haiti.

Once all the items have sold, Fili says the proceeds will go to Mission Experience and other groups. "Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy Foundation and the Creighton Student Government. A lot of people are going to benefit from the proceeds of the auction."

The auction is live and bidding goes through June 26th.

If you would like to bid on items you can visit the Auction Solutions Inc. website here.
