New Statue Unveiled At Boys Town

In honor of Boys Town’s centennial, a new statue was dedicated Tuesday morning outside the Hall of History.   The modern representation of the iconic “Two Brothers” statue was created by Omaha sculptor Matthew Placzek and is titled the “The Work Continues”.

It features an older boy carrying a younger girl on his back. “We are delighted to unveil our new statue today,” says Father Steven Boes, Boys Town National Executive Director and President. “This statue beautifully illustrates the diversity of the children and families that Boys Town serves.”

Placzek spent about two years creating the 7 foot tall, 650 pound bronze statue based on photographs of former Boy Town youth.  “The Work Continues” statues have been placed in front of the Boys Town Hall of History and at the Dodge Street entrance.

The former “Two Brothers” statue has been moved to the Boys Town Hall of History, where it joins other artifacts from Boys Town’s 100 year history. The public will be able to view the previous statue during museum hours.
