Tourniquets Donated To Sarpy County Deputies

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office received lifesaving tools that are now standard equipment for all deputies.  The department received a donation of 100 tactical tourniquets and cases from the La Vista Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.

The Sheriff's Office recently purchased kits for their Road Patrol deputies.  With the donation, deputies in all divisions will have the equipment.  Initial training on use and application of the tourniquets is underway.

Tourniquets are a proven and valuable lifesaving tool for citizens and members of the department.  Deputies are first responders and often arrive at personal injury accidents, construction or farm accidents prior to rescue squads.  In a traumatic injury situation involving loss of blood, the tourniquets can buy additional time until rescue personnel arrive.  The 100 kits cost $6,000.
