Two Californians Arrested In Omaha On Drug Charges

A traffic stop on I-80 near 60th Street Wednesday night leads to the discovery of drugs and the arrests of two Californians.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a K-9 deputy stopped a Ford Fusion with California plates on eastbound I-80 around 9:30.

The deputy became suspicious after getting inconsistent stories from the driver and passenger on where they were going and asked to search the vehicle. The driver, Frank Winter of San Pablo, California, denied consent to search the car.

The deputy then deployed his drug dog, who detected an odor of illegal drugs inside the vehicle, which led to the discovery of nearly a pound of meth and paraphernalia.

Winter and his passenger, Katylen Nicholson of Milpitas, California, were both booked into Douglas County Corrections on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
