Multi-State Pursuit Leads To Arrests In Omaha

The Nebraska State Patrol arrested two people Thursday morning after a multi-state pursuit on I-80 from Iowa to Nebraska.

Authorities say before crossing the Missouri River into Nebraska, a stolen Jeep driven by 27 year old Michael Pierce swerved at an Iowa State Trooper in an attempt to avoid a spike strip. The vehicle also hit two Iowa State Patrol cruisers.

The pursuit then came into Nebraska, where it was picked up by Nebraska State Patrol Troopers. Pierce lost control of the vehicle near 50th Street and I-80, where troopers were able to arrest him and his passenger, 29 year old Mary Kennison.

The pair were booked into the Douglas County Correctional Center on charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Resisting Arrest and Willful Reckless Driving.

Authorities say no Iowa or Nebraska troopers were injured during the pursuit.

It was determined that the Jeep was stolen from Greeley, Colorado.
