One Dead After Sarpy County Crash

A pickup driver was killed after being hit by a semi on Highway 34 at Harlan Lewis Road south of Bellevue Monday morning.

Sarpy County Sheriff's Captain Kevin Greiger says witnesses told them that the pickup driver, 55 year old Randy Strode of Ashland, stopped at the stop sign on southbound Harlan Lewis around 9:00 before turning onto eastbound Highway 34 and into the path of the eastbound semi that was hauling lumber.

Both vehicles rolled and ended up off the road.  Strode died at the scene.  The semi driver was treated for minor injuries.  The investigation is continuing.

Investigators remind drivers turning onto Highway 34  that the speed limit is 65 miles per hour.
