Scorching, hot summer days are just around the corner, and the Salvation Army is asking for the community's help in replenishing their bottled water reserves.
Spokeswoman Susan Eustice says they are facing an incredibly low supply of bottled water for their community cooling centers. "As the summer heat grows upon us, we find ourselves at the Salvation Army, out of bottled water. We do need to open our cooling stations. We do need to offer folks who come in for respite from the heat a nice, cool glass of water. We can't do that without donations."
Eustice says bottled water donations also help those who are in need after a disaster. "Hopefully we won't be facing any natural disasters this season, but we know that's possible too. That's another time we use bottled water for people that are suffering."
If you would like to donate, Eustice says they will accept donations of any kind. "Any kind of bottled water, in any shape or size, is fine with us. Of course, we'd prefer the individual bottles that one person can drink, but we'll also take gallons and other sizes."
Bottled water donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Disaster Services building at 10629 Burt Circle Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
