UNMC officials on Friday unveiled the Chihuly Sanctuary at the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, which opens to patients early next month.
It was created by glass artist Dale Chihuly and is designed to be a place of reflection and peace for patients, family members and caregivers.
The sanctuary is the centerpiece of the Healing Arts Program at the cancer center. It has large windows with views of a healing garden and allows for plenty of natural light.
Chihuly's artwork has been installed at ten specific sites. Walter Scott Jr. and his late wife donated the money for the sanctuary and artwork.
