Pottawattamie County sheriff's deputies rushed to a house on Mynster Springs Road near Big Lake Park around 8:00 Wednesday morning after a bail bondsman reported hearing up to 60 shots fired.
The bondsman was watching the house for a suspect when the shots rang out. Deputies tell NewsRadio 1110 KFAB the person he was looking for was known to frequent the house and had relatives that live there.
A perimeter was set up around the home and heavily armed officers were able to remove two men, three women and a child from the house. A robot with a camera was sent into the home.
Deputies determined that the person the bondsman was looking for was not there and that a man living in the house was taking target practice outside with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle that he legally owns. No one was injured and authorities have not said if any charges will be filed.
