Iowa Governor Approves Expanded Medical Marijuana

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad approved legislation that allows more people with medical conditions to use medical marijuana.  The legislatures plan also allows the state to license growing operations for marijuana for the production of cannabis oil.

The bill also expanded the number of chronic and debilitating conditions to 15 that includes cancer,  AIDS, HIV, Parkinson's disease, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, PTSD and terminal illnesses and pain. A doctor's prescription would be needed to obtain the cannabis oil.  The law also allows people to obtain medical cannabis from other states with similar programs.

This was one of ten bills that Governor Branstad signed into law as he gets ready to leave that seat to become Ambassador to China.
