Five adults and one child were displaced after a house fire at 44th and Vernon Avenue. Fire crews were called to the home at 3:10 a.m. Saturday morning. Crews saw smoke on approach and had to force their way inside. Firefighters were quickly able to put the fire out.
The occupants of the house were not home at the time and no injuries were reported. There is about $15,000 in damage to the house and the Red Cross was notified to help the residents find a place to stay.
The cause of the fire was ruled accidental due to burning incense left unattended.
