Driver Killed In Single Vehicle Accident

A one vehicle accident claimed the life of the driver.  Police and rescue crews were called to the Highway 75 on-ramp at northbound I-480 just after 9 p.m. Friday.  Investigators say a 2004 Chevy Malibu was northbound on I-480 and exited onto the on-ramp of Highway 75.

The driver lost control and hit the concrete bases and support structure for an overhead interstate sign.   The driver was alone in the vehicle.  That person was then taken to a hospital and died a short time later.

The name of the driver has not been released. Investigators say seatbelts were not in use.  Speed is the primary cause of the crash.

The accident shut down the Highway 75 on-ramp until 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
