Omaha Police have identified the person killed in a one vehicle crash Friday night. It happened around 9:00 on I-480 near the on-ramp of Highway 75.
Investigators say a 2004 Chevy Malibu was northbound on I-480 and exited onto the on-ramp. That's when they say the driver lost control and hit the concrete bases and support structure for an overhead interstate sign.
23 year old Chaneel Walton was taken to a hospital and died a short time later. Investigators say seatbelts were not in use and that speed is the primary cause of the crash.
The accident shut down the Highway 75 on-ramp until 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
