Saying Farewell To Saratoga Elementary School

Students, staff, parents and the community are invited to gather at Saratoga Elementary School at 25th and Meredith Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon today so bid the school farewell.  Saratoga will close at the end of this school year and will become the district's Integrated Learning Program next year.  Those attending Saratoga will either attend Lothrop or Skinner Magnet Elementary in the fall.

The school has a 100 year history and started as a one room school shortly after the town of Saratoga was established in 1854.  The community became part of Omaha and the current building was constructed in 1926.  There have been several upgrades to the school over the years.  In 2004 the school expanded their office area, updated their library and computer lab and a teacher work area.  Air conditioning was added at that time as well.
