The man who wants to be the mayor of Omaha for the next four years walked into Karen Western School Tuesday morning with his wife and cast his vote. Heath Mello was upbeat and confident moments later as he walked out and spoke to NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.
"We feel turnout is going to be higher than the 31 percent that's been projected by the election commisioner," Mello says. "We feel that between now and 8:00 tonight we are going to see more and more people get out to vote."
Mello also urged everyone to get out and cast a vote "Win or lose I think we have run a very positive, inclusive campaign. I think looking back we both can sleep at night knowing we did everything we could."
Mello is challenging Jean Stothert. Voter will also decide the seven city council races. Live coverage of election results begins after the polls close at 8:00 on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.
