Omaha Police Officer Injured In Crash

An Omaha Police officer on his way to a call was involved in a two vehicle crash around 1:15 Tuesday morning at 24th and Lake.

Investigators say Officer Travis Mitchell was driving a marked police cruiser westbound on Lake Street enroute to assist another officer when the cruiser and a northbound tan 2006 Chevrolet Impala collided.

Both vehicle were heavily damaged.  The driver of the Impala, 16 year old Alexis Jones, was transported to CHI Creighton University Medical Center to be treated for an ankle injury and neck pain. 

Officer Mitchell went to Nebraska Medicine to be treated for neck/chest pain and multiple lacerations. The crash remains under investigation.
