Funeral Procession Route For Fallen Sheriff's Deputy

The route has been announced for the funeral procession for fallen Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Burbridge. 

After the memorial service at the Mid-America Center on Monday, Burbridge will be taken back to the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. There will be no graveside service. 

Pottawattamie County authorities say the procession should begin between 11:45 AM and 12:15 PM. 

The procession will leave the Mid-America Center and go east on 23rd Avenue to the south Expressway. It will then head north to 6th Street, then west on Kanesville Boulevard to West Broadway. From Broadway the procession will head north on N. 16th Street to the funeral home. 

More than 1,000 law enforcement vehicles are expected to be in the nearly 6.5 mile procession. Law enforcement members attending Monday's memorial service are asked to arrive at the Mid-america Center by 7:30 AM. 

Doors will open for public seating at 8:30 AM and attendees are asked to use the west entry doors. 

Members of the public are welcome to line the sidewalks along the procession route to show their support for Burbridge. 

Be aware that there will be some road closures in Council Bluffs due to the procession, but will reopen after the procession. See the list of closures below.

·I-80 Eastbound Off Ramp (Exit 3) onto South Expressway 

·I-80 Westbound Off Ramp (Exit 3) will only be allowing Southbound traffic

·Traffic Northbound on South Expressway (north of interstate access) will be closed
