Community Support Growing For Deputy Burbridge

A day after Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Burbridge was shot and killed during an escape at the county jail, residents are showing their support.

Kim Ring was one of many people who stopped by the sheriff's office Tuesday morning, where flowers have been placed on a cruiser.  "Just to pay my respects.  I've lived here all my life and this is something we do as a city and a community," Ring says.

There is also a growing memorial outside the Council Bluffs Police Department, including flowers, balloons, candles and American flags.

Funeral services are pending.  Another deputy, Pat Morgan, was wounded by gunfire and is recovering in the hospital.

The man accused of shooting them both is facing murder and attempted murder charges.  Wesley Correa- Carmenaty was arrested in Omaha and will have an extradition hearing on Wednesday.
